Patrimonio
The village of Patrimonio is located on the west coast, in a remarkable natural setting, hemmed in by jagged limestone ridges, with its vineyards and meadows. Its heritage and history make it a village that leaves no one indifferent.
The 16th-century Baroque church of Saint-Martin stands out against a backdrop of vineyards. Nearby is the first milestone on the Saint-Martin route, which crosses Europe from Szombathely in Hungary.
Nearby, in the Théâtre de Verdure, you'll discover the limestone menhir statue "U Nativu", dating from the 8th century B.C. This is also the venue for the annual "Nuits de la Guitare" international festival.
As you drive through the village, you'll taste AOC (Appellation d'Origine Contrôlée) wines (the 1st in Corsica, obtained in 1968). This AOC covers 7 communes (Patrimonio, Barbaggio, Oletta, Farinole, Poggio d'Oletta, Saint-Florent and Santo Pietro di Tenda), 403 hectares of different grape varieties and 39 wineries.
After the vineyard was classified in August 2014, the territory was awarded the Grand Site de France Conca d'Oru - Vignoble de Patrimonio - Golfe de Saint-Florent label on March 22, 2017. It includes the communes of Barbaggio, Poggio d'Oletta, Oletta, Farinole, Saint-Florent and Patrimonio.
This label of excellence commits local players to pursuing and strengthening the protection, restoration and sustainable management of landscape qualities, as well as developing sustainable tourism based on the complementarity of land and sea.
Of course, nature lovers will be able to explore the area on foot or by bike in a calm and gentle atmosphere, lingering in wild, unspoilt spots scented with the scent of the maquis and its various endemic plants.
