Rapale

Rapale

The village overlooks the Nebbiu plain and stretches as far as the Agriate Desert. The parish church of Santa Maria Assunta, a Pisan heritage, towers above the village. It is dedicated to the Virgin Mary, Corsica's "Queen" since 1736.

In the heart of the village, you can also discover the "A Rapalinca" fountain and washhouse, remnants of a time when fountains were essential to village life. A bucolic path leads to the 12th-century Romanesque church of San Cesario, built in green serpentine and adorned with numerous carvings. It has been a listed monument since 1924.

Rapale was also the site of Corsica's first photovoltaic power plant, covering almost 49 hectares.

The village's patron saint's day is August 15.
